PAVILION & PROMENADE

The final project of the first semester was to create a folly structure to appease a client, Mr. X. The task was to create a pavilion and promenade that originated from the Prouns in project 6.

The metamorphosis between a more predictable geometric design and the fluidity of organic spaces inspired me. The pavilion and promenade for Mr. X is located in the back right corner of his property, which is in line with an existing ancient cistern that is roughly 12 feet deep. The hue plane from my original Proun, as seen in the current pavilion design, is on center with the middle of the cistern. From this plane I extended my promenade though an implied void of trees. Another promenade and garden space is situated perpendicular to the main walkway. I focused heavily on implied voids and volumes in my final pavilion in order to shape unique spaces that frame the surrounding landscape.
